Graphic design guide
Scope of the guide
Short answer: Yes, a website can be created with AI that can go live in a few hours; But for a site that is found in search engines, opens quickly, can be used by everyone, meets KVKK obligations and turns visitors into customers, the structure, content and design decisions must be checked by an expert.
I am Selçuk Aker; I am a graphic and UI/UX designer based in Istanbul, I have been working on corporate identity and digital interface projects for over 19 years. Owners of sites built with artificial intelligence site builders often come to me with the same sentence: "The site is ready but no one finds it" or "There are visits but no one calls." You let artificial intelligence do it and you think the job is done; It's not over. Let's say the site turned out really well; This time you need to introduce it, artificial intelligence is used there too. Advertisements do not bring any results, months pass, and finally an agreement is reached with an agency. This is exactly what small businesses experience. In this guide, I explain what makes creating a website with artificial intelligence easier and what it makes invisible.
How does website creation with artificial intelligence work?
Today, there are three common ways to make a website with artificial intelligence:
- Artificial intelligence site builders: You describe your business in a few sentences; The tool prepares the page structure, texts and images and publishes them with the hosting service.
- Artificial intelligence features of ready-made site platforms: Theme selection, text writing and visual production are done within the platform.
- Printing the code with artificial intelligence: The page code is generated with chat-based tools or code assistants and uploaded to a server.
| Approach | Speed | Originality | Control and ownership | Who is it suitable for? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI site builder | Very fast | Low; templates similar | Depends on the platform; export may be limited | Temporary activity page, idea test |
| Ready platform + AI text | Fast | Medium | Subject to platform rules | Simple promotional site, small catalog |
| AI printed code | Variable | Variable | Complete, but you maintain the code | Teams that can read the code |
| Custom build with designer + developer (AI powered) | Slower start | High | Full | Sites that will be the brand's main sales and trust channel |
Things that artificial intelligence does well in the website process
The conveniences these tools provide are real and valuable to small businesses:
- Quick start: Instead of a blank page, a draft that can be discussed emerges in a very short time.
- Page structure suggestion: Provides a skeleton of which sections should be.
- Text draft: Produces initial text for service descriptions, frequently asked questions and announcements.
- Lowers the technical barrier: Even someone who doesn't know how to code can publish something.
The problem is that this skeleton looks like a "finished site". The main job of a website is not to appear; to be present, to give confidence and to make the visitor take the next step.
Unseen issues: search, speed and accessibility
SEO infrastructure
To appear in the search engine, page titles, descriptions, title hierarchy, internal links, site map, structured data and clean address structure should be considered together. The shortcomings I frequently see in sites created with artificial intelligence are: the same title on every page, meaningless characters in the page address, no description text on images, all services compressed into a single page. A site built without planning what search you want to be found in will, at best, be found only with your brand name.
Content originality
The texts written with artificial intelligence are generally fluent but similar to each other: You will also see the sentence "Customer satisfaction-oriented, quality and reliable service" on your competitors' sites. Google explains that it looks at whether content helps people rather than how it is produced; However, it considers producing large numbers of low-value pages at scale within the scope of its spam policies. What really makes the difference for the customer as well as the search engines is the information that only you can convey: your real process, your real pricing logic, your real business.
Speed
High-resolution images, unnecessary animations, and excess code loaded by ready-made templates slow down the page. Google's Core Web Vitals metrics (how long it takes for the main content of the page to load, how quickly it responds to interaction, whether page elements are displaced while loading) affect both user experience and visibility. I explained the design side of these decisions in the article Core Web Vitals and design decisions.
Accessibility
White text on light gray, buttons consisting only of images, menus that cannot be navigated with the keyboard, and unlabeled form fields are common on sites that have been produced. WCAG criteria recommend a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text. Accessibility is not only for disabled users; It is important for anyone who uses their phone under the sun or fills out forms in a hurry. I collected the control steps in the article web standards and accessibility.
Turkish and local details
Since artificial intelligence tools mostly think with English examples, small but trust-shattering errors occur on Turkish sites. Words such as "contact" appear as "CONTACT" instead of "CONTACT" when converted to capital letters, Turkish characters are incorrectly coded in page addresses, the phone number is not clickable, the address is written with the wrong district, and date and currency formats remain in foreign order, to name a few of these. Sentences that smell of machine translation (phrases like "Feel free to contact us") make the site look more like a template than a real business. From these details, the local customer quickly makes a judgment about how caring the business is. Therefore, before publication, someone who knows Turkish well should read the site from start to finish, on the phone and desktop.
KVKK, cookies and form security
A site in Türkiye that uses a contact form, newsletter registration or measurement tool processes personal data. In this case, at least the following should be considered:
- Information text: It should be clearly explained which data is collected for what purpose and with whom it is shared.
- Cookie preferences: The user should be given real choice for non-essential cookies (such as advertising and analytics); Windows that leave no option other than "accept" are problematic.
- Form security: Spam protection, secure transmission of data and it should be clear where the form data is stored.
- Third-party services: Chat plug-ins, maps and font services may also cause data transfer.
AI site builders sometimes add general privacy text; but this text does not reflect your actual data flow. This section is not legal advice; I recommend you work with a lawyer for the texts. On the design side, it is my responsibility to ensure that the confirmation windows are honest and understandable. For details, see cookie preferences, measurement and web design.
Brand differentiation and transformation
When a visitor enters a site, he looks for answers to three questions within a few seconds: What does this place do? Is it suitable for me? What should I do now? On sites produced with artificial intelligence, these answers are often lost behind general sentences. The buttons say "More information," the phone number is at the bottom of the page, the quote form asks for ten fields.
Conversion comes not from the beauty of a single page, but from the design of the visitor's path. The aim of Pedaş LED landing page was to highlight the product and direct the visitor to the next step; In the Danone project, campaign and product contents had to be displayed consistently within a corporate digital experience. Decisive in both jobs were decisions about what information to display and when. These decisions are not made by command, but by understanding the business and its users.
Loop: What happens when "The site is finished"?
Example scenario: An accounting firm launches its site in one weekend with an AI site builder.
- Quick installation: Home page, services and contact page are ready. The images look professional.
- Silence: Weeks pass; The site only appears when you search for the name of the office. It doesn't show up in service searches.
- Promotion with artificial intelligence: Images and texts are produced for social media and search ads, and the advertising budget is opened.
- No return: Visitors coming from advertisements encounter general texts and leave. It is not measured whether the form works or how many people call it.
- Loss of months: Texts are reprinted again and again, templates are changed; The main problem, the structure and message, remains in place.
- Transition to expert: Hiring an agency or designer; The content plan, page structure and measurement are being established from scratch. Some content is moved manually when it is necessary to leave the platform.
I explained the entire cycle in the thinking the job is done with artificial intelligence guide, and the promotion leg in the advertising and social media design with artificial intelligence guide.
Using artificial intelligence correctly with a designer: hybrid approach
Artificial intelligence is invaluable as an accelerator in the website process; as long as he doesn't make the decisions:
- Set the goal: Will the site lead to a phone call, a quote form, or a store visit? Choose a single master conversion.
- Plan search intent: Determine what words your customers are searching for and on which page each service will be described.
- Establish the structure with the designer: Let the page map, visitor path and the visual language of the brand become clear.
- Use AI to draft the text: Then rewrite the text with your own knowledge, real examples, and your own voice.
- Have technical checks done: Speed, accessibility, mobile view, form, KVKK and measurement should be checked before publication.
- Secure ownership: Have the domain name, hosting, content and design files in your account.
You can review how I carry out this process on my web designer page and website renewal to overhaul an existing site. I also discussed why screens made with artificial intelligence are not considered experiences in this article. For the visuals you will use on the site, you can look at the guides Can a design be made with artificial intelligence, and if you are considering a mobile application, Can an application be made with artificial intelligence.
Checklist before going live
- Does each page have its own title, description and a single main heading?
- Are your services described separately in the customer's search language?
- Is there information in the texts that only you can provide (process, sample work, price logic)?
- Does the page open in a reasonable time on a phone and on a slow connection?
- Have text contrast, keyboard navigation and form labels been checked?
- Do Turkish characters, uppercase conversions and long words appear properly?
- Do the information text and cookie preferences reflect your actual data flow?
- Has the contact form been tested, do incoming messages reach the correct address?
- Are phone, form and offer clicks measured?
- Are the domain name, hosting and content in your account; Can you move the site to another location?
If there are items missing from this list, your site is not finished yet, even if it is live. If you would like to evaluate your current site together or establish a new site on the right basis, just leave a short message on the contact page.
Frequently asked questions about website with artificial intelligence
Can a website be made with artificial intelligence?
Yes, a site can be launched quickly with AI site builders and code tools. However, the structure and content must be checked by an expert for search visibility, speed, accessibility, KVKK and conversion.
Will a website built with artificial intelligence appear on Google?
It may come out; But just because it is produced with artificial intelligence does not provide an advantage. Without page titles, content plan, internal links and original information, the site often exists only with the brand name. Google looks at the benefit of the content to the user rather than the production method.
Do site texts written with artificial intelligence harm SEO?
It does not cause any harm on its own. The problem is that generic and similar texts don't tell anyone anything new. Mass-producing a large number of low-value pages may conflict with search engines' spam policies. It is safest to rewrite the draft with your own information.
Will the site created with an artificial intelligence site builder belong to me?
Varies by platform. Exporting content and design is limited on some platforms; When you unsubscribe, it may be difficult to move the site. Make sure that the domain name is registered in your own account.
How is KVKK ensured on a site built with artificial intelligence?
The general privacy text that the tool adds is not enough. You need to determine which data you collect and through which tools and prepare appropriate information text and cookie preferences. I recommend that you get support from a lawyer on this matter.
Why doesn't the website built with artificial intelligence bring customers?
The most common reasons are: targeted searches are not planned, texts remain generic, the visitor is not presented with a clear next step, and it is not known where the problem is because there is no measurement. These are not caused by the tool, but by the lack of strategy.
Can a designer fix a site made with artificial intelligence?
In most cases yes. First, structure, content, speed and measurement are examined. The existing site is improved if the platform allows it; If the platform is limited, it may be more efficient to move to a new structure while preserving the content.
Is an AI site builder enough for a small business?
Might be enough for a temporary campaign page or idea test. If the site is your business's main trust and sales channel, I recommend working with an expert for at least the structure, content plan, and technical checks.
How do AI and designer work together for the website?
The designer establishes the goal, page structure, and visual language; Artificial intelligence speeds up the process of text drafting, visual variation and repetitive tasks. The final decision, control and delivery responsibility remains with the designer and the business.
