Before building a corporate website, determine your goal, your current content and who will be responsible for the project. I am Selçuk Aker; As a freelance graphic designer, I handle the web interface together with the visual language of the brand and the tasks of the visitor. Asking the right questions at the beginning reduces the problem of comparing quotes on page count or price alone.
What information should you bring to the first meeting?
Write down the site's primary visitor and the task you want them to complete. Comparing services, downloading a catalog and applying require different content structures. Existing pages, available photos, verified text, and sample product data make up your starter file.
When sharing a reference site, don't just say "let it be like this". Indicate whether it is the menu, visual language, order of information, or ease of operation that you like. The designer's job is not to carry the competitor's text and appearance, but to establish a layout that suits your needs.
Questions to which you will seek clear answers in the offer
- Who will be responsible for the design file, coding and content entry?
- What page types and screen states will be prepared?
- With what controls will mobile layout and accessibility be evaluated?
- Who will provide and approve text and photos?
- Which contents can be changed in the administration panel?
- How will old links and posts be migrated?
- How will the feedback, revision and approval calendar work?
- How will accounts, files and usage rights be transferred?
- What work and duration will post-publication support cover?
Also discuss the choice of ready-made components or custom development, depending on the need. One approach alone is no guarantee of security, speed or design quality. Web design quote guide details the deliverables that affect the price. Giving an initial price to be applied to everyone without determining the current scope makes accurate comparison difficult.
Plan the process with approval points
Content and flow can become clear first, then the basic page layout and visual language. During development, the feasibility of the design is checked together. Once the actual content is in place, overflowing headers, missing product information and error situations are re-evaluated.
The drawing time alone does not determine the delivery schedule. Internal approval, translation, content preparation and integration also affect access. When the approval of a stage is delayed, it should be discussed from the beginning how the next date will change. The Content management guide makes it easy to organize responsibilities.
Elaborate according to your industry needs
A general introduction template will not meet every question. You can make your own content list from the relevant guide:
- Industrial and technical product catalog: product code, document and offer relationship.
- Educational institution web design: different user paths and current announcements.
- Logistics web design: separation of new demand and existing operation.
- Medical product information layout: verified specifications and document matching.
- Textile collection presentation: product variant and sample request.
- Law and consultancy site: resume, publication archive and contact.
- Hotel web design: room comparison and reservation statuses.
Being ready for publication is not the same process as being findable
Mobile usage, links, texts and transaction statuses should be checked. If the old site is being renewed, the corresponding URLs and redirects are planned. Site refresh guide covers this transition.
Publishing the page does not guarantee specific ranking in Google. Google's SEO beginner's guide explains the basic approach to findability and understandable content. Those responsible for design, development, content and subsequent measurement should be identified.
You can share with me your list of requirements for freelance website design in Istanbul or remotely. In the first meeting, we can clarify the goal, scope of delivery and decision process.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an exact delivery time for the corporate website?
An exact deadline should not be given without knowing the scope, content preparation and approval schedule. Schedule the design and development phases with separate dates.
Are hosting and maintenance included in the website offer?
Don't automatically assume. Domain name, hosting, updates and support should be specified as separate items.
Can I change the contents myself later?
It depends on the selected infrastructure and panel coverage. Test an actual content update before delivery and check the transfer of access.
Will the new site definitely maintain its old Google rankings?
No such guarantee can be given. Old content and URL inventory, appropriate redirects, and post-publication tracking are important parts of the migration.
