Headline design should be tested with real headlines
The card that works with a short sample headline may overflow in a long news headline. Different lengths, news without photos, and multiple categories are tried during the design process. The hierarchy between title, date, author and photo information is determined. Trying to attract attention with all the elements at the same time makes reading difficult.
Separate category colours from the brand colour
Categories can be assigned colors; However, color should not be the sole identifier. The text label should also appear. The main brand color, breaking-news label and advertising space play different roles. Clear placements are designed to help distinguish sponsored content from editorial content. This distinction is not just left to color change.
Mobile reading and advertising areas
If ad placements are known from the beginning, content flow and spacing can be planned more accurately. Behaviors are clarified with the developer so that opened layers do not cover text or navigation. The design file should also cover loading states, missing images and long text.
