Book cover and layout design considers the promotional face of the book and the reading experience together. As Selçuk Aker, I prepare the cover, chapter openings and inner page layout according to the structure of the text. Editing, translation and scientific accuracy of the text are separate responsibilities from the design service.
Inner page layout should start from the text
Straight narrative, heavily footnoted work, and visual-based publication cannot be solved with the same template. First, we examine a sample section and try text space, line spacing and heading levels. Table and visual descriptions are added to these sample pages. Approving the ground rules before the entire text is placed makes revision easier.
Finalise cover dimensions with the spine width
The visual layout of the front cover can be prepared early; The spine thickness depends on the number of pages, paper and binding information. The final technical measurement should be taken from the printing house. Space is reserved for the back cover text, barcode and publishing house markings. The right to use the cover photo or illustration is verified before delivery.
How do corrections proceed?
Working with one annotated correction file rather than scattered messages reduces version confusion. Long sections added after text approval may affect page breaks and table of contents. For this reason, we track editorial changes and design corrections separately. In the final proof, page numbers, title order and visual links are checked.
Printed book and digital file
Print PDF and PDF to be read on the screen may require different optimization. Links, file size and navigation need are also specified. The reflowable ebook format does not deliver the same as fixed-page PDF. Long PDF navigation guide may be useful for the digital version. Contact me with a sample chapter.

Can only book covers be designed?
Yes. Cover texts, dimensions and publishing house rules, if any, should be shared.
Does the number of pages of the book alone determine the price?
No. Table, footnote, visual density and text readiness also change the workload.
Are all spelling errors found before printing?
Design checks are not a substitute for editorial proofreading. Final text approval must be given by the author or editor.
