Product series

I distinguish bean type, roast level, grind and pack weight through a clear product coding system.

Bag and label

I lay out the front and back using the manufacturer's template, allowing for the valve, closure, seals and printable areas.

Sales images

I plan for the packaging and e-commerce product card to consistently promote the same product.

Coffee packaging design makes it easier for the customer to understand which coffee they are buying and to compare product assortments. As Selçuk Aker, I design packaging and labels for whole-bean coffee, ground coffee and different pack weights under the same brand. Before starting the design, we separate the fixed information and the data that will change in each package.

Order of information on the coffee package

The brand, product name and pack weight should be clear at a glance. When origin, roasting and tasting notes are displayed at the same level, the front panel can become crowded. I determine priority by sales channel: the small package on the shelf and the online product photo are viewed from different distances. As a designer, I do not make up product claims; The information to be used is approved by the manufacturer.

The bag surface is not a flat sheet

Stand-up pouch, side gusseted package and box require different layouts. The header corresponding to the valve or lock area, the folded text after filling, and weight information hidden in the bottom fold should be checked before production. It would not be right to finalize the print file before the technical drawing is finalized. Text size and surface effect on the sample are also evaluated.

Color alone should not be the product code

If the different roast levels in the range are distinguished only by color change, it may not be noticeable in the small product image. I use color along with a clear product name and a consistent location of information. We set up the variant table at the beginning so that the entire series does not change when a new product is added. For small manufacturers working with labels, the variable printing area can be planned separately.

Quotation and file delivery

The price is determined by the main design direction, product variant, weight adaptation and production method. Print files, approved previews and images requested for e-commerce are added to the delivery list. Bag production, printing and product photography are handled separately. You can review my packaging design service and request a quote with your product list.

Frequently asked questions

Can a single design be used in different weights?

Brand layout can be maintained; When the surface ratio changes, the layout is rechecked. Just shrinking the file may not be enough.

Can a label be designed on the ready-made bag?

Yes. The surface of the bag, label size and gluing area must be known. The manufacturer verifies printing and adhesion suitability.

Do you determine the texts on the coffee package?

I organize the visual order of the information. Content, product features and necessary declarations are verified and provided by the brand.
