Textile Logo Design: Production Tests from Woven Label to Embroidery — Selçuk Aker

Textile logo design may start on the screen but is tested on fabric. The same mark faces different limitations in woven label, embroidery, screen printing and e-commerce profile. Production-ready versions and samples should be part of the identification work, as well as the master drawing.

Learn the production method at the beginning

The thread structure of the woven label, the stitch density of the embroidery and the surface of the fabric printing are not the same. Very small gaps can be closed; Fine lines may appear in different thicknesses. Instead of applying a general minimum size to all manufacturers, ask for samples of the method to be used.

During the meeting with the manufacturer, the label's size, folding style, sewing allowance and color of the base should be explained. The available area of the logo may be smaller than the total label size.

Balance readability with fashionable character

A long and thin text logo can target a high-end presentation; However, it may not give the same effect on small collars. If necessary, a compact version associated with the main logo can be prepared. This is not just using another random symbol, but tailoring the identity to measure.

Turkish characters, letter spacing and internal spaces closed in embroidery should be examined in real size. Font selection for logo considers the digital and print sides of this decision together.

Keep the brand constant while the collection changes

Season photos, patterns and campaign colors may change. If the main logo and basic identity rules change completely with each collection, brand recognition becomes difficult. Designate separate visual roles for the main brand with the collection title.

The cardboard label, fabric label, package and website do not use the same material; Partnership can be established through ratio, typography and signage. Painting all surfaces the same color does not create an identity system on its own.

Include a sample record in the delivery package

In the file list prepared for logo design with Selçuk Aker, the single color version, small size sample, label application and manufacturer-suitable master file can be included. The production method and size of the approved sample must be recorded. Instead of expecting the same result by sending just a photo to the next manufacturer, technical files should also be shared.

Frequently asked questions

Does the logo need to be redrawn for embroidery?

Some details may need to be simplified. Preparation for the embroidery program and production sample are also evaluated; A vector logo file alone is not a production confirmation.

Can the collection logo replace the main brand?

Communication may be more visible depending on its priority; However, its relationship with the main brand should be kept clear. Temporary collection identity and permanent brand files should be managed separately.
