Designing Secure Batch Transactions with a Freelance Interface Design Expert — Selçuk Aker

Changing a single record in a table is not the same experience as updating hundreds of records. A freelance interface designer makes visible what the user has selected and the scope of the transaction in the batch process flow. Trying to solve the wrong selection with the final confirmation window alone may not be enough.

Clearly state the scope of the selection

Were the records on the displayed page or all results matching the filter selected? This distinction is especially important in paginated tables. Continuously display the selected number of records in the transaction area. Explain to the user whether the selection is preserved when the filter changes.

Write the actual result of the transaction in the confirmation

“Are you sure?” Instead, summarize which records will change and how. Changing draft status with an irreversible action should not have the same approval weight. Confirmation text should do more than repeat the name of the button. Where appropriate, a preview of the records to be affected may be presented first.

Design partial success as a separate case

All records may not be updated at the same time. Show how many operations completed, which ones failed, and the impact of trying again. If retrieval is possible, its duration and scope should be clarified with the technical team. Don't promise an undo feature that doesn't exist in the interface.

Brief check before delivery

  • Are the number and scope of selected records visible?
  • Is the critical action result clearly explained?
  • Is there a flow of partial successes and retries?

Clarify scope with Selçuk Aker

When working with Selçuk Aker, you can consider these decisions within the scope of administration panel design. For the first meeting, share existing files, usage environment, and target delivery date. Operation and error messages completes this preparation.

Frequently asked questions

Does every batch require a confirmation window?

No. The impact and reversibility of the procedure should be evaluated; Unnecessary confirmations can make it difficult to notice important alerts.

Should the selection be deleted when the filter is changed?

The decision is made according to the workflow of the product. It is important that the behavior is consistent and visible.

Can an undo button always be added?

But only if the system really supports it. Duration, scope and impact on subsequent operations should be determined with the development team.
