If users leave the application form unfinished, it is not always because of the visual design. The requested information, uncertainty of the offer or technical error may also have an impact. The value of UX work is in investigating the problem without accepting the initial guess as the definitive cause.
Concrete the research question
“Let's improve the user experience” is a broad goal. “Can the new customer find the delivery condition?” is a more open question. Collect existing support requests, conversation notes, and usage evidence. If there is no data, indicate this; Don't make decisions based on imaginary user behavior.
The relationship of the research participants with the target user is also important. A demonstration with members of the team who know the product well may not represent the experience of someone seeing the product for the first time. Noting which participants and tasks the findings come from preserves the boundaries of interpretation.
Test options with flow and prototype
You can compare alternatives by plotting the user's start, decision points, and completion step. Trying out the order of information before bringing each screen to its final visual detail makes the change easier. Keep the scope of testing open to avoid treating connections that do not work in the prototype as real product defects.
An example task might be “change appointment time.” Monitor the participant's progress without telling them which button to press. Record where he is standing, what he is waiting for, and where he needs help. Tie the results to the design decision without leaving it at a “thumbs up/thumbs down” level.
What documents should be included in the UX submission?
