Brand Monitoring on Social Media: Turning Comments into Design Decisions — Selçuk Aker

Social media monitoring is the process of monitoring brand-related conversations and feedback. In terms of graphic design, its value is not just in counting how many times you are tagged. Repeated questions may reveal incomplete product information or an image that creates false expectations.

Separate comments by type

A product question, a delivery complaint, a technical support, and a content critique do not require the same response. First, determine which issue will be conveyed to whom. Freelance graphic designer can edit product information; but it alone cannot solve a delivery problem. Operation and communication responsibility should be clear on the brand side.

For example, if customers constantly ask for the size of the product, the photo scale or information card may be inadequate. If the shipping time is misunderstood, the problem may be in the shared text, the linked page, or the actual process. Find the source of each problem without turning it into a new visual preparation request.

Broadcast language and response language should belong to the same brand

Using a sincere tone in posts and a condescending tone in support responses creates inconsistency. Canned responses should be just the beginning; Sending the same sentence without reading the person's situation may not provide a solution. Instead of rushing to respond with unverified information, determine who to get the information from.

If a correction is to be made for an error in the image, follow the old and new versions. The channels in which changes such as product price or date will be reflected should be recorded. Do not use sensitive customer details as samples in public design files.

Concrete the feedback that will reach the designer

-Which share and which version is involved? - What information did the user misunderstand? - In how many different contexts has the problem been repeated? - Has the correct information been confirmed by the brand? - Which of the images, text or the directed page should change?

This record is more actionable than vague comments like “followers didn't like it.” Don't generalize a single reaction to the entire audience. Consider positive and negative examples together; Making criticism invisible alone does not solve user needs.

Separate design support and community management

Information cards, explanatory visuals and updatable templates can be prepared in social media design work with Selçuk Aker. Tracking account messages and responding to customers is a separate job. Expert and designer separation of duties clarifies expectations.

Frequently asked questions

Does the social media designer also respond to comments?

But also if this scope has been agreed. Graphic production and moderation are not the same service.

Does a negative review indicate bad design?

It doesn't show on its own. Product, service, expectation and communication may be different reasons; Classify the problem first.

Do monitoring necessarily require a paid tool?

It depends on the volume of need. Before the tool, determine the channels to be followed, the person responsible, and the evaluation pattern.
