Corporate Identity Design Cost: Build a Usable Scope

About 3 minutes to read

Corporate identity design cost depends on the system you need to operate, not simply the number of items in a presentation. A business with one sales team may need a practical proposal template and a short guide. A company with several product lines may also need packaging rules, document families and a more detailed handover.

I am Selçuk Aker, a freelance graphic designer based in Istanbul. My approach is to identify the materials a team actually uses, then define a consistent visual system that can support them.

Audit the existing materials first

Collect the current logo files, sales presentations, product sheets, email signatures, social templates and printed documents. Mark which items should be retained, redesigned or retired. This prevents a proposal from charging for an entirely new system when part of the existing work is still usable.

Also record who updates each item. A visually impressive template is of little help if the person maintaining it cannot edit the required fields.

Distinguish a master template from its adaptations

One brochure structure and ten populated brochures are different deliverables. A presentation master and a completed forty-slide sales deck also require different work. Specify both the reusable system and the amount of initial content production.

  • Number of document types and representative sample pages.
  • Languages, text lengths and product variants.
  • Editable formats and the team's available software.
  • Review rounds, approval owners and delivery milestones.
  • Guidance for future updates and supplier use.

This makes proposals easier to compare and reduces disagreement about what an “identity package” means.

Plan the guide around real decisions

A brand guide should answer practical questions: which logo version works on a dark background, how headings are styled, how images are selected and where production files are stored. Page count alone is a poor way to judge its usefulness.

The required detail depends on who will use the system. An internal team, a printer and an external social media supplier may need different instructions. Agree the intended users before expanding the document.

Budget for implementation separately

Designing an identity does not automatically include printing stationery, rebuilding a website or replacing signs. List these implementation tasks and assign an owner to each. When several suppliers are involved, decide who checks the final applications against the approved system.

My corporate identity service and brand guide service describe related work in Turkish. For an English brief, share your current materials, priorities and target date through the contact page.

Frequently asked questions

Should a corporate identity proposal include a logo redesign?

Only if a redesign is needed and included in scope. An existing logo may remain while typography, layouts and everyday applications are improved.

How can I control the budget without losing consistency?

Prioritise the most frequently used materials, approve their common rules, then schedule less urgent applications in a later phase. Keep one documented source for approved assets.
